Chetan Bhagat, a B Tech graduate of IIM Ahmedabad, was born on March 23, 1974 in Mumbai and graduated from IIT Delhi in 1995. He started his career in journalism with the newspaper The Times of India. In 2003 he started his career as a full-time writer with the publisher Random House. Bhagat was one of the authors of the young adult series 'The Dewey Donnelly Fact Files' under the pseudonym Nick Prakash. Bhagat's first novel Five Point Someone is sold over 50 million copies and is in 200 languages. His book The 3 Mistakes of My Life, based on his own life, went on to become one of the top selling books of the 21st century.

The book is also a social commentary on the various forms of discrimination and intolerance that are prevalent in the society, especially towards the marginalised sections. 'Two States' is one of the best-selling books in the history of Indian publishing. It's sold over 50 million copies, making it one of the most popular Indian books ever. This has made Bhagat the third bestselling Indian author of all time, after RK Narayan and Mulk Raj Anand. Two States is also the first book by Bhagat to be available as an audiobook. The audiobook is narrated by Vinayak Jakhar.
